Financial assistance for learners
  1. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)
    Aim: To support students who do not have funds for further education at universities or colleges.

This loan scheme supports more than 100 000 students annually. 

Qualifying criteria:

•    Only South African citizens are eligible
•    The student must be already registered at any university or college in South Africa
•    The student must be studying for either a first or second higher education qualification
•    The student must be able to complete his or her studies, and
•    Must be in need of financial assistance

To apply:
Students can apply for NFSAS loans at the institution where they study or call 0800 202 933
